What will they do to teachers next?

SIR – Once again yet another initiative dumped on schools.

Ed Balls’ latest stupid idea for licensing teachers! Does he not know that teachers are scrutinised, performance managed, OFSTED’ed, local authority reviewed on an almost daily basis! Yes and what will they do if there is a teacher under performing – put as many difficulties, hurdles and time consuming measures in place to ensure that the under performing teacher stays in post.

Last week it was parents who will be able to demand an inspection and pupils will identify the weak teachers and get them out. As people are vetted before they are able to keep a dog perhaps a few parents should be reviewed as to their suitability to parent!

The attitudes of greed and selfish bullying as demonstrated by Alan Sugar are obviously perceived as virtues.

Richard I Bird,
Worcester.

This latest guff from Balls was a pure political stunt. The sort of thing we are going to get a lot more of as it comes up to the election. The man gets so exited, he can barely speak in a clear manner and this is he, who has the arrogance to think that he should be a forthcoming Prime Minister. What a grotesque thought, oh! my god. Balls as our next PM.

Do I see Richard Bird quite rightfully criticising his government???

Having a Licence will help get rid of the deadwood in schools - those teachers who just are not up to scratch and are as useful as a chocolate teapot without the debacle that currently happens where everyone has to reapply for their own job just to get rid of a member of staff - they call it "restructuring"...

Will it?
Who will decide who gets a licence?
What qualifications will they need? and so on ad infinitum.

"Who will decide who gets a licence?"

Balls ... of course, depending on their degree of political correctness!
