Why on earth was design declined?

SIR – I refer to the Worcester News article of July 1 regarding the rejected planning consent for the conversion of a pub to flats.

The projections of the rebuild of the Little Sauce Factory on London Road appear reasonable to this viewer’s eyes and would cancel out what is an unsightly building now wallowing in its latest life as another curry house.

It beggars’ belief that this design is declined as “ugly” yet the “ugly” appearance of the proposed new library is acceptable.

Just what do we, the tax payer, employ these officers for? Have they no common sense or are they just being belligerent and delaying approval so that their function remains in place a while longer?

John W Pedley,
Worcester.

I don't even know who the designer is but it's not exactly the best looking building at the moment is it? The design shown didn't seem all that different in shape.

I was more concerned in the arrogant attitude of the Architect who felt that no-one else was capable of approving or dis-approving his design (to use a word).
