Sir – By hitching a ride on the wobbly electoral bandwagon of New Labour, Louis Stephen does Worcester Green Party a disservice.
His letter of November 7 claims it would be a waste of time holding any further debate in the House of Commons on the subject of hunting. That is called democracy, something the Green Party should really be supporting.
As for wasting parliamentary time, the same accusation could be levelled at New Labour, who, against the results of their own inquiry into hunting, spent more than 700 hours concocting a failed ban.
To date only three professional huntsmen and about 30 poachers have been prosecuted under the Hunting Act. The latter could have been dealt with more firmly by existing legislation.
This sound bite politics and spin may gain the Green Party short-term publicity but Britain is looking for realistic policies, sound government and a political party who can deliver.
