SIR – N Taylor asks why thousands more houses are being dumped here. A government spokesman answered this recently.
He said that, due to the ice caps melting faster than at first thought, sea levels are expected to rise faster than anticipated. This will cause flooding in low level coastal areas and possibly a mass exodus inland. This could be in the next 10-25 years.
With the change in weather patterns due to ozone layer depletion, populations will be on the move. This can be seen now with the drought in parts of East Africa, with loss of crops and death of animals. Where will people go? I don’t know, but I will hazard a guess.
