Don’t let’s waste any more time

Sir – How pleased I was to see your double page spread regarding hunting.

This proves conclusively that the people of Worcestershire support the hunt now that there is no cruelty involved. They are happy to follow the hunt knowing full well that they will never witness the tearing apart of an exhausted animal, be it fox or deer.

The little men in their pink coats can still ride their big horses and adopt their superior attitudes and no hounds need be destroyed.

Now that riding to hounds without cruelty enjoys so much support, no one need waste any more time on the subject.

HELEN SMART
Worcester.

The words "naive" and "gullible" spring immediately to mind. I wonder if this lady is a "pro" hunting plant.

It would be helpful to have reasoned statements for and against hunting.
As an ignorant bystander, it seems to me that:-

a: the PROs point to the need to control both country and urban fox populations. They say that hunting provides a service and that new regulations make this traditional blood sport more humane.

b: the ANTIs deny any improvement in conduct of the hunt. They abhor any "sport" which involves cruelty to animals. However they tacitly condone the incompetent shooting and trapping of foxes who slink away to a protracted and painful death.

As an ignoramus, please might I have your considered guidance without sickly sycophancy or ignorant ranting.

All the arguments for and against have been said time after time after time until most people are sick of hearing them. People generally on this issue have minds fixed and an unwillingness to compromise so it is pointless trying to pursuade them.
At the end of the day it simply comes down to this, do you support, condone or otherwise go along with the cruel destruction of wild animals or don't you.
There, nothing magical, mysterious or anything else about that, even the most ignorant can understand that issue without the need to go into sickly sycophancy or ignorant ranting.
And by the way, the "Antis" do not tacitly or any other way condone the "incompetent shooting and trapping of foxes to slink away to a protracted and painful death". On the contrary they abhor the legal architects and judiciary who have allowed this anomaly to creep into the farce that the hunters get up to.
Simple question Energetic, are you for it or are you against it.

I wonder if BarryB is an anti hunting plant. He is certainly get on his high horse the moment anyone supports hunting or even wants to debate things.

There is nothing more to debate New Kid, the debate ended in Parliament when they made it illegal. The debate concerns another issue which I hope Parliament will also address, why don't the Police enforce it. If my suspicions are correct, it is because, like so many other things, the Police don't know that the Act exists and it is an offence.

The debate did not end when Parliament made hunting illegal. It was not allowed to end as the Parliament Act was used to force through legislation.
Also are you saying that we shouldn't debate existing legislation? Are all our laws in this land perfect?

Surely, she was being sarcastic?

Wasn't she?

It sounds like Helen feels inferiour to someone on a horse and this appears to be one of her main objections otherwise why be so roud to the rider just because he/she might wear a red coat, this seems like Labours ideas for the banning of it. The other point is that on Stag Hunting the Stag is not normally touched by the Hounds and certainly is never torn to bits by them, but I guess Helen has never been Hunting and has gained her information from some misinformed source.
