Stop squirming and pay up for potholes

SIR – Re: Derek Prodger’s letter (February 25) on the condition of Jennet Tree Lane in Callow End.

Initially the county council claimed the January 2009 inspection showed the road was ok. When Tom Wells proved he had reported the poor condition of the road on May 9, the council said they inspected it after his letter and found no faults. A huge pothole damaged my car four months after this alleged inspection, before the ice and snow. The council didn’t act on Coun Wells’ report and should stop squirming and pay for the damaged caused by the appalling condition of our roads.

But squirming and shifting the blame is what the Council does best!
