SIR – I am all for cradle to grave health care supplied by the NHS and I also understand the need to support the ageing population.
Whichever death tax system the Government choose, I can’t help wondering where the money will go.
I am NHS to the core and will take up arms in the street to defend it. However, with creeping privatisation it is quite conceivable that money will be taken from my kids’ inheritance and given to private care agency directors and shareholders who can use the profits to live it up on a Mediterranean cruise.
I would have no argument if the NHS were public-owned and social services used their own public sector staff, but why should I rob my kids to pay for shareholders?
