Sir – I have long believed Britain is a virtual one-party state and it’s interesting to watch it being played out in Worcester’s great ring road saga.

We have the Tories and Liberals (and John Phillpott?) cosying up to the privileged “village in a city” north Worcester NIMBYs, while the south Worcester serfs are doomed to endure the environmental equivalent of living in Hong Kong with only a few empty weasel words from New Labour to sustain us!

Which party will sweep away the old sclerotic feudal Worcester and do something brave and imaginative by completing that vital ring road?

As ever,the answer is none, because the Lib/Lab/Con grovels before the rich and privileged minority in north Worcester and it’s two fingers to the rest of us. Just try voting your way out of that!
