SIR – I see that some of the job centre staff were striking and protesting for more money.
Do people not think that this is just greed in this time of recession, when millions of people are unemployed, people are struggling to find jobs, and money is short, that these people – who are paid to help people like that – are greedily and selfishly striking for more cash.
To top it all, they can’t even protest right. Because it was cold the protesters filed into Bolero Cafe for a coffee. So, not only are they greedy and selfish but lazy!

As you quite rightly said, John, there are millions of people unemployed, some of whom could (and would) quite happily do their job for the wages that they are currently on.
.
They should put up, shut up and consider themselves lucky that they're in one of the only sectors where they probably don't need to worry about being made redundant at the moment! When the economic situation improves, they can protest all they like.
