SIR – Reading Stanley Parr’s letter (March 6), I must admit that I wholly agree with him in regard to TV programmes.
I, like him, do not understand why football takes up so much time on TV and is treated like a religion. Even after the game is over, an inquest is then shown for an hour later in the evening. Then it gets mentioned on all TV news bulletins for the next 24 hours. Other sports are not given so much TV time as football.
When the football appears on the TV listings, I either change channels or put on a video, or I read a book.
