SIR – Always found George Cowley’s letters rather entertaining.

However, regarding the letter of Monday, March 9, where he states that the Labour Government does nothing but spend, spend, spend. Could I remind him that they they spend on benefits for people like him who live on them. They spend on hospitals and accommodation for people like him to live in. Come on, George, short memory or what?

Mr Bird are you seriously suggesting that a conservative government would suddenly stop spending our money on hospitals, benefits etc.
Or is this just more pre-election propaganda from Labour Councillor Richard Bird?

Yes New Kid that ex-councillor who is now enjoying his new found freedom in being able to write to the papers, whether it be rubbish (like enjoying Georges letters) or not, without having to get them vetted by his political peers through "media enquiry forms".
