SIR - I am not a BNP member and never have been, but after this disgraceful Blairist attack on an ordinary member of the public, who knows?
It seems that we - all of us - are at the mercy of this Government's fascist authorities. We have a local man who has been imprisoned for two-and-a-half years for a crime of "racially aggravated" assault despite having a scrupulously clean record and the offence carrying a maximum punishment of two years only. So where did the two-and-a-half years come from?
One can only imagine the righteous indignation from Blair, Straw and so on if the roles were reversed and a BNP government attempted to do the same against a Labour supporter.
NICK CHANCE,
Severn Stoke
