SIR – As from May 4 the RSPCA will no longer take into their care pets belonging to people who are taken into hospital, evicted from their homes, unwanted or found as strays. Those holding the animal will be told to contact the police, the local council, or a vet.
The RSPCA ran in to trouble when they supported the TV programme Pedigree Dogs Exposed and lost funding from various sources.
The Dogs Trust, Worcester Animal Rescue Centre and Breed Rescues will bear the brunt of the RSPCA new rules. If you have money to donate, please support your local animal charities.
