SIR – I’m sure the RSPCA, Defra and Trading Standards would be happy to tell Jon Burgess (Worcester News, June 26) how many times I have contacted them about breaches of legislation I believe have been seen, unfortunately they still continue.

Only last month Animal Aid released footage taken recently inside a slaughterhouse that kills pigs and sheep. This is the sixth slaughterhouse that has been filmed. In each, causes of concern were found and in three law-breaking and serious animal welfare failings. Three workers have been suspended as a result.

No one should apologise to those who send baby lambs and young calves on long journeys to their deaths.
