Sir – On behalf of Jonty Smith and his family, I would like to say a huge thank you to everybody who has so kindly supported our appeal to raise money to buy his power wheelchair. Special thanks must go to Brent Aston and his team from Asda, Pershore, for all their support and especially for letting us run events in their foyer. Saturday’s tombola raised £560 which has taken the total raised so far to a staggering £4,919. The kindness and support that has been shown to Jonty is completely overwhelming and we are fast running out of tissues as his mum Jane is reduced to tears on a daily basis by people’s kindness. It just goes to show the strength of community spirit that is still very much alive in Pershore – a small town that I am proud to live in. There’s only about £2,200 left to go until we can make one little boy’s dreams come true and I can’t think of a better Christmas present than that. Come on Pershore, we can do it!
