Police had no idea about Hunting Act

SIR – On several occasions while living in Wales I had a pack of hounds come across my land.

The huntsmen were still on the next road. The hounds could have killed as a pack, which is illegal.

On calling the police, I found that they seemed to have no idea about how the law worked. I think only a handful of huntsmen have been convicted because no one is enforcing the Hunting Act properly.

There are too many loopholes in the law and the police just stand around aimlessly scratching their heads. There should be a total ban or a lift on the ban. Do it or don’t do it. Simple. I say there should be a total ban due to the problems, which Geraldine Engel, like many others, have experienced.
