This is the law

SIR – I fully support Simon McCullough’s letter (Worcester News, January 6). Hunting with a pack of hounds is illegal. A huntsman in Somerset has been convicted twice under the Hunting Act for doing just that. Lots of laws are heavily criticised by various people. They are still the laws of the land.

Whether hunting with a pack of hounds is illegal or not depends on what you are hunting.
Drag hunting for example is perfectly legal.

You may call me sad, but I’ve done a little bit of research that’s a little more ‘close to home’. Hunt supporters say the anti-hunting community are the minority.
.
Simon McCullough’s letter “Really, so much for peace on Earth” on 6th January 2011 started the ball rolling for this recent fox hunting debate.
.
Since Simons letter, there have been another 5 letters (6 in total to date). One of these letters is for fox hunting. The other five are against fox hunting. There are in total, 40 comments for these letters. There are a couple more comments but they have no meaning. 16 of these comments are for fox hunting. 24 are against fox hunting.
.
This gives the percentage of this debate (amongst local people) as 40% are for hunting and 60% are against. What more can I say?

Too small a sample to have any statistical value. Also how many people are responsible for multiple postings.
With one email sent round to a few people I could change the figures considerably but I prefer to allow people to comment only if they choose, not because they have been alerted to the debate.

What statistical value do you want? I gave you the overall population statistical value, which equalled as 0.6% of England and Wales for hunting. I now give you the local view from this website as 40% for and 60% against. What else is their to give!?
.
Where is your evidence for the 27% of the population that is against the ban?

Multiple postings? There have been 6 hand-written letters from 6 different people. 5 of which are against hunting. This now suggests that just above 83.35% are against the ban and the other 16.65% are for the ban.
.
Whichever statistical value you take (England & Wales, Worcestershire, Worcester News online community), you begin to find that the majority of people are against fox hunting. If I included Scotland then the percentage of for hunting would be even smaller.

Why don't the people who hunt foxes, hunt chavs instead? They'd be harder to catch in their Saxo VTR's, therefore giving the huntsmen more of a challenge. Most of them have knives or some sort of weapon so there's the danger of a possible fight back, which will only make the experience more edgey. And ultimately they'd be doing the world much more of a favour than seeing off a few worthless foxes that most people think are cute. New anti fox hunting slogan. BACK THE BAN - SLAY THE CHAVS! I'd suggest it will receive a lot more public support aside from the council estates and who cares what they think anyway!! SLAY THE CHAVS, SLAY THE CHAVS!!!

Demigod, I am shocked by what you wrote, but I confess it made me laugh my socks off!

Great idea Demigod - judging from some of the online comments relating to today`s lead article about Tudor Grange Academy, that would be a good place for the first meet to be held!!!
