Mr Burgess, foxes are not classed as pests

SIR – John Burgess seems to have got something wrong in his letter (Worcester News, June 17). Foxes are not classed as pests.

Like other animals, fox populations are controlled by the availability of food.

Unfortunately, because more people like to shoot birds, large amounts of pheasants are released into the countryside which ruins the balance of nature.

Another fact Mr Burgess doesn’t seem to have grasped is that hunting is illegal.

No they are not classed as pests; according to the Oxford Dictionaries they are classed as vermin.
