Would I be allowed a gold roof on my home?

SIR – What an eyesore the Hive is. It’s a blot on the landscape.

Worcester has many old buildings and this hideous building does not fit in.

If I submitted plans to have a gold roof on my house do you think I would be successful?

We all know the answer to that don’t we.

What a fantastic building it is! Worcester does have some lovely old buildings, quite true, but the Hive brings Worcester up to date with something modern and a bit daring! People had their chance to object in the planning stages but didn't! So stop your moaning!

Meanwhile, we have yet another multi-storey car park being built, in Lowesmoor, a building no one's complaining about.
Maybe if they built one where the Hive is there wouldn't be so many complaints, in fact I'm sure there wouldn't.

Love it. Multi-storey car parks - the very zenith of good architecture!
It's odd, not only has nobody complained about the new MSCP at Lowesmoor, they also haven't complained about the wriggly tin shed that is metamorphosing from the rubble there.
Do you think the planning committee had their head turned by the promise of money and jobs, such that architectural merit wasn't considered important in Lowesmoor? Surely not!

I think you will find that with such a development as Lowesmoor being a retail park there would be a planning requirement for parking to be included.

To the Gold roof I hate it, but then I recall just a few years ago the brown hanging tiles of the front of quite a large house in Canada Way Lower Wick were replaced with copper tiles, which were positively glaring. There followed a hue & Cry in this paper and on local Radio & TV. But after a while they tarnished and now you wouldn't know the difference and the house owner has a maintenance free cladding.
