Canon John Davies was perfect gentleman

SIR – Re ‘City vicar guilty of sexual assault’ (Worcester News, January 28).

I find this article distressing and confusing.

I knew Canon John Davies extremely well when he was vicar at St Martin’s, London Road, Worcester.

As verger at services of worship, baptisms, weddings, funerals and church administration we worked closely together.

Never once did he behave improperly towards me.

He was a perfect gentleman and devout priest who was much admired.

I cannot question the court’s findings. I hope his remorse will not affect his future happiness and success.

My thoughts and prayers are with him.
