SIR – Once again George Cowley is talking a load of codswallop.

I’m talking about his letter ‘At the end of the day, horses are horses’ (Worcester News, March 22).

Horses are animals of great beauty. If they fall and break a leg they are put down.

They don’t have a say in being raced and whipped into exhaustion, whereas it’s the jockey’s choice to take up the profession that they do.

If they get injured, though, they know the risks they take and they are paid a decent crust. So think on, George, and stop writing a load of twaddle.
