SIR – I agree with Worcester resident Mike Taylor’s appeal to enhance the approach to Worcester via London Road, or the Gateway to the city as it is called (Worcester News, April 10).

As he rightly says, litter, uneven and cracked pavements, overhanging trees and tatty building frontages do nothing to encourage visitors to our fair city, and this applies to all parts of the town.

However, it is surprising that most car owners spend hours cleaning their vehicles, yet wouldn’t dream of washing their house windows or doing some paint work.

There are often as many as four car owners to each property in some places. Perhaps if some of them took as much pride in the buildings they lived in, Worcester would look a lot cleaner.
