SIR – Many readers of the Worcester News will be aghast at the unprecedented rise in the price of postage stamps just coming into force.

Royal Mail is already in profit despite their claims that e-mails etc are eating into their profits.

The real reason is that they are being fattened up for privatisation by this radical right-wing Government whose major objective seems to be to line the pockets of bankers, fund managers and the like.

Even Margaret Thatcher said that privatising Royal Mail was a privatisation too far.

Raising postage prices – ie, increasing profits – will make it more attractive to investors and also allow it to continue to deliver other private postage companies to everyone’s front door.

What sort of public service would deliver a service such as the so-called ‘last mile’ for their competitors. None of the existing private providers have this ability and yet the Royal Mail has done it for them.

Once privatised it will be the usual utility service ripoff such as gas, electricity etc.

I don’t remember reading of the proposed privatisation of the Royal Mail in the Tories’ election manifesto but David Cameron said that they were not going to carry out a top down reorganisation of the NHS, which they are just doing.

Perhaps they speak with forked tongue?
