SIR – What makes this country and its people great?
To find the answer, you simply have to look at the events of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. It was spectacular. The people of Britain know how to put on a show for the rest of the world to sit up and take note.
And the Queen, at 86 years old, showed such stamina to endure the whole four days of events. This shows that the monarchy is still alive and as important to the people of not only this country, but to the whole of the Commonwealth.
If the 2012 Olympics is half as good then we are in for another spectacular few weeks of celebrations.
