SIR – When the Queen Mother reopened the Stratford-upon-Avon Canal in 1964, they painted underneath a road bridge her boat The Linda was due to travel under.

When the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh came to Worcester by train years ago, workers quickly painted the rusting gas-holder behind the Metal Box Company factory by the railway.

Now the Queen is to open our yellow peril – the Hive – so are there plans to paint or cover up the old nightclub premises on the other side of the road in the Butts?

Surely we are not going to allow this disgraceful approach into the city to be seen by royalty?

I hope that you will publish this letter so that those with authority to do something about such matters urgently can see and deal with it.
