SIR – With reference to your article ‘Six attend Alexandra Hospital meeting’ (Worcester News, June 28) with regard to the small numbers attending the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust meeting at the Southcrest Hotel in Redditch.

The meeting was badly advertised in this area and to say that the alternative venue for the meeting [It was originally due to take place at Alexandra Hospital] was posted on their Twitter page is a farce.

Not everybody has “Twitter” and the last thing on the minds of many people is searching Twitter to see if the trust has posted any changes.

Everybody is very concerned about the Alexandra Hospital and I believe that the way this meeting was changed with the minimal amount of advertising was a stunt by the board to try to make sure nobody turned up so that they could say people in Redditch are not worried about what happens to their hospital.

I feel that the changes being discussed are because the board used the assets of Redditch, Bromsgrove and Kidderminster hospitals as a guarantee for the funds to build the Worcester hospital and now they are having to face the music of paying the loan back.

The best way to save money is to reduce the salaries of those people at the top who are non-medical staff and get rid of all the so-called outside non-medical consultants who charge so much for their ideas.
