Sack commentators and enjoy the action

SIR – I believe there’s a new man taking over the top job with the BBC.

With a salary well over the top, one way to pay for his huge salary would be to sack all the commentators employed by the BBC – at Wimbledon they are totally unnecessary, in fact at times they are a nuisance.

After all, people at centre court watching the tennis don’t have anyone explaining each shot played – in fact, the same should apply to football and snooker.

They are visual sports.

The BBC is employing far to many of these so called commentators who become a nuisance.

I myself turn the sound down on my television so I don’t have to listen to their garbage.

Racking my brains here to think of a sport which is not 'visual'
.
Now how selfish of you to not think about people who are blind or visually impaired and may wish to listen to the commentators describe the action. And all those who are not 'experts' like you, and enjoy both watching the sport and hearing the commentators views and observations. What a small Shearon focussed world you live in.

To be fair, that Clive Tyldesley on ITV is jolly annoying. He talks utter tripe so any football involving him gets the sound turned down.

The terrible twins are at it again.
I see your point CJH, but if I was blind heaven forbid I too would be flummoxed as to what they are on about.

I wouldn't mind if I could understand them. You need to be Glasgow born for most sports commentators.

To be fair, the BBC provide first class coverage of sport, ITV on the other hand ruin their coverage with all the adverts and poor punditry.
