SIR – I have been reading an old history book and redicovered some longforgotten facts.
The French Revolution was caused in the main because peasants and the middle classes were heavily taxed whilst the nobles etc paid very little. Sound familiar?
In 1842 the English were defeated by the Afghans.
Hitler didn’t learn from Napoleon’s mistake about Moscow.
Will anyone in power in this country learn from history ever?
