Try being homeless on £35 a week...

SIR – I see our mayor Councillor Roger attended the launch of the Big Sleep Out (Worcester News , July 24) to raise awareness of the plight of the homeless.

If Mr Berry lived on £35 a week for five years, as the truly homeless do, I would respect him more.

Actions speak louder than words.

Cllr Berry has chosen St Paul's hostel as his charity this year, so he is doing rather more than just turning up at the Big Sleep Out.

Roger Berry has a long-standing commitment to tackling rough sleeping in the City. In the meantime I'm looking forward to seeing George kipping in a cardboard box at next year's Big Sleep Out; after all he has a point: actions DO speak louder than words!!

It's worth noting this letter:

- also in today's paper - for how the mayor has already helped homeless charities at the start of his term.

Its also worth noting George is one of life’s simple souls and is not to be taken seriously.

Is that the new qualification for being a Tory supporter as George now is?

Oh and when George was a Labor supporter no too long back, A widows Pension was £48 per week to live on, not on the streets.

so you want him to give up his home for 5 years and hope that someone else takes up the baton to highlight this cause? and then that person to give up THEIR home? and so on and so on until there is no one to campaign for this cause? - seriously George have a little thought before you bother us with your musings......
