CONCERN for the safety of a missing Stourport man has increased after his shopping bag was found by the River Severn.

Stuart Titley, known as Joe, was reported missing by his family on Friday, November 16.

The 60-year-old was last seen the day before and a shopping bag containing personal items was found on Saturday.

Searches by police officers, including dog handlers and the force helicopter, with the assistance of the fire service and Severn Area Rescue Association (SARA) are now focused in that area.

Mr Titley, who is well known in the town, is described as white 5ft tall, of stocky build with cropped dark brown hair and blue eyes.

He was last seen wearing dark trousers, a red knitted jumper with a Flintstones character on it and a navy fleece tied around his waist.

Detective inspector Jon Marsden said: "Mr Titley is considered vulnerable. He has not gone missing before, and has taken no money or possessions.”

He is known to have left the Old Crown Inn, Bridge Street at 1pm on Thursday and headed towards the river.

He also visited his parents’ grave in St Michael’s Church on the same day.

Anyone who saw Mr Titley or has seen him since is asked to call police on the non-emergency number 101.
