A SERIES of iconic album sleeves have been recreated for a charity calendar.
Carnival Records in Church Street, Malvern, has gathered together a series of snaps staged by some of its creative customers with all the proceeds going to Acorns Children’s Hospice.
Owners Chris and Rachel Heard say they got the idea after a regular customer visited the shop with a mocked-up photo of the first Crosby, Stills and Nash album with a couple of his friends posing on an old sofa outside his house Having put out a request for similar photos inspired by seminal album covers, the finished article will feature artists such as the Beatles, AC/DC and Bruce Springsteen.
Mr Heard said: “The album cover is becoming something of a lost art, and it’s something we’re very passionate about at Carnival Records. What better way to celebrate it than to raise money for a local good cause.”
Some of the other instantly recognisable images include Nirvana’s Nevermind, Patti Smith’s Horses and Tom Waits’ Rain Dogs. The calendar will be available from the shop priced at £10. For more information, go to carnivalrecords.co.uk.
