YOUNGSTERS from a Malvern school turned inventors and plucked up the courage to step into the Dragons’ Den.
Year one and two pupils at St Matthias Primary in Malvern Link have been learning about famous inventors and were challenged to come up with a new mobile phone.
As well as designing their phones, children had to make models and produce instruction leaflets explaining how they worked.
Pupils voted on their favourite phones and their inventors were then invited to step into the Dragons’ Den to pitch their concept to headteacher Claire Davies and two expert local business people – Sarah Bailey, of Dolly’s Sweet Shop in Church Walk, and Rachel Noble, of PF2 Health Clubs.
Teacher Sarah Flubacher said: “The ideas were amazing, from waterproof phones that you could answer in the shower to phones that included a brush and mirror. All of the children had a fantastic time designing and making them.”
