Star Marti's a really good hugger

A SERIOUSLY-ill woman enjoyed a night to remember with her family, thanks to the charity HoneyRose Foundation.

Sadie Lewis, aged 45, who is being treated for breast cancer, was taken to see the classic musical Blood Brothers at the Birmingham Hippodrome and meet its star Marti Pellow.

“It was a fantastic night out,” said Mrs Lewis.

“All of us love musicals, so it was a real treat for us to see the show, and then go backstage and meet the cast.”

Mrs Lewis, from Fernhill Heath, near Worcester, made the trip accompanied by her husband Guy, daughter Corah, aged 17, and son Hayden, 13, and Terry Shields, who is a trustee of the HoneyRose Foundation.

“My children go to the King’s School and they’re both fascinated by music,” she said. “They really enjoyed the chance to see behind the scenes and see the mechanics of a big production like this.

“Marti was fantastic. He made us so welcome and he's a really good hugger.”

The HoneyRose Foundation was established in 2004 to grant special wishes to adults fighting life-threatening illnesses.

So far, more than 3,000 people have benefited.
