RIVER levels in Worcester look set to peak this evening.

Earlier today the Severn at Worcester was measured at 4.95 metres and steady, with a peak level of between 4.9 and 5.1 metres expected.

Further light rain and showers are expected in the coming days but they are not expected to have a major impact on the height of the water.

A spokesman for the Environment Agency said: "We currently have eight flood warnings and one flood alert across the Worcestershire area.

"We’re closely monitoring the River Severn as the flood peak moves down the river.

"There is a possibility of light rain and showers over the next few days but this is not expected to cause any major impacts."

The level at Diglis was 4.40 metres and steady earlier today and a peak level of between 4.4 and 4.5 metres is expected later today.
