CCTV appeal after charity box thefts
1:37pm Wednesday 6th February 2013 in News By Tarik Al Rasheed
POLICE have released these CCTV images of a man they want to speak to in connection with the theft of two charity collection boxes.
A Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal collection tin was stolen from the pharmacy counter at Morrisons supermarket, in Roman Way, Malvern, at about 11.30am on November 10 last year.
A Save the Children box also went missing from a counter at Lloyds TSB bank in Worcester Road, Hagley, near Kidderminster, between 1-2pm on December 12.
After studying security camera footage, officers investigating the two thefts realised they were looking for the same man.
He is thought to be about 60 and on both occasions was wearing a wax jacket and a distinctive rimmed hat.
PC Ann O’Herilhy said: “These are particularly unpleasant crimes for obvious reasons and therefore we would like to identify this man so that he can help us with our investigation.”
Anyone with information can call PC O’Herilhy on 101 quoting incident 155-S-151212, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
