WORCESTER Vigornia Rotary Club has a new president.

Linda Baylis, 33, has taken over from John Gibson at a special hand-over breakfast .

Ms Baylis is one of the youngest presidents the club has seen since its formation in 2008.

She previously worked as a lawyer in the city and is currently embarking on a new career as a teacher.

She said: “I am so proud to have been chosen as president of such a young and vibrant Rotary Club. During my Presidential year we’re planning all sorts of fun activities to raise funds for local, national and international Rotary projects and in doing so we hope to be able to attract more young people to come and join our club."

Ms Baylis said her immediate goals include increasing the club’s impact within the Worcester community and attracting new members.

Rotary clubs work to develop and implement educational, humanitarian, and vocational service projects that help local and national communities.

Members initiate projects which address the needs of communities, such as the Christmas food parcel collection and delivery project run each year in Worcester.

Vigornia is the only breakfast Rotary Club in Worcester. Members meet at the start of the day on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month and then members move on to work or to their daily business.

To take part visit the club at the Fownes Hotel on City Walls Road at 7.30am.
