PEOPLE can bob for apples while learning all about wildlife at a Worcestershire nature reserve this month.

Worcestershire Wildlife Trust’s Knapp and Papermill nature reserve in Leigh Brook valley will soon be home to a range of orchard-themed activities, ranging from apple juicing and apple bobbing to bug hunting and learning about orchard wildlife and management.

Peter Case, engagement officer for the trust, said: “We’ll have an apple press on site for people to make their own apple juice to drink and take away.

“It’s not been a great year for apples in our orchard at the reserve but that’s not a problem because we’ll be bringing apples from some of our other nature reserves — it will all add to the different flavours of the day. Of course we’ll be leaving lots of apples in all of our orchards to help wildlife get through the winter.”

Staff and volunteers will also be running a series of guided walks looking at wildlife in the orchard and on the rest of the nature reserve.

The event takes place on Sunday, October 12 between 10am and 2pm and admission costs £3 for adults and £1.50 for children.
