CHILDREN in some of the world's most impoverished countries will get a little Christmas cheer this year thanks to some generous youngsters from a Worcester nursery.

Children in the nursery class at Oasis Academy Warndon put together about 20 shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.

Lyn and Clive Crowther from St Barnabas C of E Church visited the class on Friday, November 14 to collect the boxes and tell the children about the appeal.

Nursery assistant Sally Dentith said the children were interested to hear how their presents would be enjoyed by youngsters thousands of miles away.

"We made them mostly for children aged two to four because most of the children at the nursery are three," she said.

"They were taken to the church where we had a service on Sunday to bless them before they went on thier journey."
