KEEN historians will be able to take home books about Worcester at a sale being held at the Hive tomorrow (Friday, December 19).

The books are duplicates of item already in the local studies and archaeology library, and will be of interest to those who want to add to their own collections, to find out more about the place in which they live or simply as a Christmas present.

When the Worcestershire Record Office and Worcestershire Historic Environment Service merged in 2012, the library stock from the three public branches also merged, and the Archive and Archaeology Service now has excess stock of certain books that are no longer part of the local studies and archaeology reference collection.

All the books for sale are duplicates from the library, no archive material is being sold.

On sale will be everything from journals from local societies and organisations, including Worcestershire Archaeological Society, books about towns, parishes and villages in the county and beyond, and books about important Worcestershire people and events.

Victoria Bryant, manager of Worcestershire Archive and Archaeology Service, said: "All proceeds will be fed directly back to Worcestershire Archive and Archaeology Service, so those buying books will be helping to support us and protect Worcestershire's heritage."

The event takes place in the Studio at The Hive from 1pm until 4pm.
