FOUR jobs will be lost as a Worcester shoe store is set to close this weekend.

tReds will trade for the last time this weekend, with the "economic decline" the main reason behind its closure.

A spokeswoman for the high street store said: "It is unfortunate that this store has had to close, and tReds has to leave the town.

"The decision has been made for a number of reasons, but primarily the economic decline seen over the past few years.

"We hope to be able to continue to serve our loyal customer base with our on-line site, and of course there are a number of stores nearby in Gloucester, Redditch and Hereford too.

One full time post and three part-time posts have been made redundant as a result.

Adrian Field, head of Worcester BID, says he is "disappointed" with the closure, but says it is a great opportunity for another business to take its place.

He said: "We are disappointed that they are closing their store in Worcester.

"Given the investment in the high street recently with L’Occitane and Fraser Hart opening soon, and with Moshulu, Swarovski and Joules opening in the last 18 months or so, and a submission for the former Wallis unit just up the road to become occupied, it provides a great opportunity for a new business to invest in a street which was shortlisted for the High Street of the Year last year."

The store will close, after the day's trading, on Saturday, February 28.
