FIREFIGHTERS were put through their places during a rope training exercise this week.

Malvern Fire Station hosted the training scheme, which created the scenario that a man had fallen on the roof and seriously injured himself, and had to be safely lifted down to the ground.

Recruits from Droitwich Fire Station were also being trained along with firefighters from Malvern ,as they are the only two brigades that carry out rope rescues within Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service.

A spokesman for Malvern Fire Station said: "The training exercise was a success, and is necessary to ensure both brigades are up to date with the latest training standards."

This was classed as urban training, but Malvern firefighters were also carrying out rescue training in rural settings too last week, by honing their skills in the quarries on the Malvern Hills.
