A MAN has narrowly escaped going to prison for keeping a pump-action shot gun.

Patrick Gaffiero appeared at the city’s magistrates court and received an eight-month prison sentence suspended for two years.

At a previous hearing, Gaffiero admitted keeping the shotgun without a licence and possessing a 100,000-volt electric stun gun.

He was sentenced to four months in prison for each offence, and the sentences were ordered to run consecutively.

Gaffiero, 39, of Headley Heath, near Droitwich, was also sentenced to 180 hours of unpaid work, made the subject of a two-year supervision requirement, and ordered to pay £60 court costs.

How are we to tackle gun crime when a man who has one illegally, along with another weapon which is totally illegal. Has no good reason to have either walks free from court. One can only presume what these items were to be used for. Do were really have to wait until there are "victims" before a custodial sentence is considered appropriate!
