WORCESTER Racecourse has abandoned tomorrow’s meeting because the course is waterlogged.

Officials decided to call off the event at 8am this morning.

In addition to six National Hunt races starting at 2.20pm, the Ladbrokes Northern Jump Jockeys were due to take on the Arena Leisure Southern lads for the annual charity football match.

This year, it was going to be played in aid of Wayne Burton, a conditional jockey who was seriously injured in a fall at Exeter in March.

Worcester Racecourse is situated at Pitchcroft on the banks of the river Severn, which is currently on the Environment Agency's flood warning list.
