CHURCHES across the two counties are being encouraged to ring their bells for St George’s Day.
To celebrate the nation’s patron saint, BBC Hereford & Worcester radio station has urged listeners to ring a bell for dragon-slaying St George at 9am today.
The station, which will broadcast the bell-ringing event throughout the day, wants people to ring bells of every kind - from cowbells and doorbells to school bells and bicycle bells - while All Saints Church in Deansway, Worcester, will be ringing its bells.
Elsewhere in Worcester a procession involving more than 200 school children will take place this morning.
Pupils from the St Georges Catholic Primary School, Thorneloe Walk, will walk with a banner to the nearby St George's Church in Barbourne for a service.
A St George’s Day concert, featuring local singers, will be held at the Ascension Church, Somers Park Avenue, Malvern, from 7.30pm.
The Hill Singers and Vocal Score will perform live. There is only a few tickets remaining. To book call 01684 569285.
