Photography competition is a celebration of village life

A PHOTOGRAPHY competition aimed at celebrating village life has been hailed a success.

The Hallow in Focus competition saw more than 50 snaps entered by budding photographers of all ages in Hallow, near Worcester.

The winners were chosen by Worcester News picture editor Jonathan Barry and will be displayed at Hallow Parish Hall during the annual cricket match on Sunday, July 5.

Organiser Emma Guise, from the Hallow Village Community Group, said: “The aim of the photo competition was to see what talent was out there and how people perceived the village and the area around it.

“It was about getting everyone involved.

“There is quite a lot of artistic talent in the village. The pictures were all really different and taken by all ages – from school children right up to senior citizens.

“Some of the pictures were really imaginative.”

Mr Barry said: “We had a pleasant afternoon looking through a large number of photographs and we all commented on the excellent standard of entries.

“This made it very hard to pick the category winners but eventually between the three of us we picked out six outstanding pictures.”
