Escaped prisoner returns - of his own accord

A PRISONER who escaped from a Worcestershire jail last month has returned of his own accord.

Police have confirmed that Thomas Maloney, who was one of three prisoners who went missing from HMP Hewell near Redditch on Sunday 7th June, is now back behind bars.

The 33-year-old from Coventry, who was serving an eight-year sentence for drugs offences in the open prison, returned at 7pm on Friday, July 3. He has now been moved to closed conditions and could face charges for absconding.

Two other men who went missing at the same time - Terry Lowe, aged 24, from the Plumstead area of London, and Nicolas Cole, aged 32, from Coventry – are still at large. Both were serving sentences for murder.

Detective Inspector Jon Marsden, of West Mercia Police, said: “Maloney’s return has added a new dimension to our enquiries and we have interviewed him about his disappearance and any involvement he may have had with Lowe and Cole.”

He stressed that there was no information to suggest that either of the missing men are a danger to the public, and that the police and all those involved in the investigation would continue to do everything in their power to locate them.

Anyone with information is urged to call West Mercia Police on 0300 3333000 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

The drug dealer handed himself in but the murderers are still at large.....comforting thought! Can't score but could get murdered!
