Car narrowly misses river Car narrowly misses river

A DRIVER has narrowly avoided crashing into the river Severn after colliding with railings in Worcester.

The blue Vauxhall Corsa was travelling on Tybridge Street, near the disused pump house, when it collided with riverside railings just before 2pm today.

The vehicle flipped onto its roof before coming to a stop precariously close to the water.

All three emergency services attended the scene.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "There was a bit of panic that the car might have gone into the river, but it hasn't.

"We sent a rapid response, ambulance and incident support officer to the scene."

The male driver was treated for minor injuries and shock. No others vehicles were involved.

Any one like to guess the drivers age or the speed the car was going at before it flipped on its roof? Hope the male driver is ok.

The car looks amazingly similar to one that overtook me on Monday evening at an incredible speed, risking my and my sons lives and the lives of the car heading towards us which needed to take evasive action. It had been 'tailgating' me for ages and ended up arriving at the next junction all of about 8 seconds before me...

As I didn't witness the incident I was being a little careful in my choice of words. Moonpig noticed the similarity of the car with another incident. What I really wanted to say was that I hope the driver had learnt a lesson from the near miss he had and hoped it would calm him down in the future, but as I don't know all the details I was careful in my choice of words. I'm a girl by the way.

Only the driver and police know the circumstances of this incident, so it is wholly wrong for any poster on this website to make public judgements.
Also, to wish harm on anyone - for whatever reason - is totally unacceptable and for that reason I have removed one comment. Please think about the comments you are about to make before you post them.

So the Evening News does not wish harm to terrorists those that would cause the slaughter of innocent women and children? Perhaps they'd like to invite them round for a cup of tea and a chat? Explains a lot about the Evening News..

Murray: Don't you think that your "... it is wholly wrong for any poster on this website to make public judgements" invalidates almost every posting on the WN site?

By posting, we cannot avoid being public and any comment other than the fatuous or anodyne will necessarily contain an element of judgement in the form of our opinion on an event or person.

Surely this is what blogs are for: to allow opinions and counter-opinions to be expressed so as to reach a balanced conclusion?

Why not be content to insist on avoidance of illegality as defined by slander and libel legislation?

I drove past this accident just after it happened, my friend Alessio died in a car crash in June, and the trauma and sorrow his friends and family have been through over the last few months has been awful, to think that anyone should wish this kind of harm on somebody is just disgusting. Think before you type!!!

I understand that such an incident in a 30mph zone causing that much damage would make some people jump to conclusions, and maybe that was the case.

But from my own experience at that very junction I was in the central lane coming from St.Johns and accidently miss-judged the curb of the central reservation because I was watching someone pulling out of the parking ahead. I certainly wasn't speeding but found that yellow box rather slippy in the wet after knocking that wheel. And the river is rather close to the road!

Admittedly my own fault, but I soon realised that even at slower speeds things can get pear shaped!

Am I missing something here? I can't see that anyone was wishing ill on anybody? I was merely commenting on the similarity to a car that almost caused an accident in the same area the night before. I certainly would not wish an accident on anyone.

admins removed one comment moonpig. It may be possible that was the comment others were refering too about wishing harm don't worry :-)
