A mask depicting the face of TV star Carol Vorderman was found by police on a sex doll during a child porn investigation.

John Bonnett kept the doll in his bedroom along with a number of child-sized mannequins.

He confessed to having a sexual interest in children aged from three to 14 and had downloaded more than 61,000 indecent images on his computer, said Gareth Walters, prosecuting.

Twelve cannabis plants were also discovered growing in a spare room.

Bonnett, of Walton Road, Hartlebury, near Worcester, pleaded guilty to cultivating the drug and making indecent photographs of children.

Jailing him for nine months, Judge John Cavell at Worcester Crown Court said 33-year-old Bonnett was “plainly obsessed with child porn” but other “disturbing evidence” had also been uncovered which had not led to further charges.

The judge made a 10-year sexual offences prevention order banning Bonnett from using a computer except one with detection software monitored by West Mercia Police.

Bonnett is also barred from making contact with children under 16 and working with them. He must sign the sex offenders register for 10 years. Police investigating porn sites run from Belgium and Italy discovered six e-mails sent to Bonnett, who was buying porn, said Mr Walters.

His home was raided on October 8 last year and two life-size rubber sex dolls were found.

He had a number of DVDs featuring schoolgirl porn and the child dolls were inside a locked cupboard.

Inside a folder were faces taken from the internet that Bonnett used on the dolls.

Mr Walters said: “One doll sitting in a chair had the face mask of Carol Vorderman, another was wearing provocative clothing. The child-sized foam dolls had holes cut in them.”

The number of child porn images totalled 61,469. There were 96 child porn movies.

Bonnett, who had no previous convictions, admitted having a five-year interest in children and said he had modified the mannequins for sex.

Defence counsel Andrew Davidson said he would not have abused a child but had sexual fantasies about them.

He downloaded the images for his own use and had not distributed them.
