OUR January meeting took place at the time of the 2010 great freeze-up and we were a smaller number than the usual. Angela Kovacevic, one of our two vice-presidents, took the chair and welcomed those who had braved the cold.

Several business matters were brought to our attention by Beryl Smith, secretary. Among them was the next federation annual meeting at Malvern in March. Names were taken of those wishing to attend and also those who would like to take part in a craft show at the same event.

Angela thought we might resolve to go on regular walks throughout the year and several suggestions for a short ramble were forthcoming.

Conversely, members also agreed that they would like to continue with the monthly lunches and marked their diaries for February 17 for the first one.

Our speaker was the eminent photographer Peter Preece from Studley who warmed our hearts and minds on a cold winter day with charming slides of butterflies and other insects taken in bright sunshine.

Our next meeting will be this month, when the subject “laughter is the best medicine” will be the theme – and telling us how to obtain a prescription for it will be David Howe. It is on Monday, February 8, 2pm, at Wychbold Community Hall.
