WHETHER you are looking for a new career, a change of direction or just want to volunteer, this year’s Every Child Matters careers fair has something for you.
The annual event, which is run by Worcestershire County Council’s early years and childcare service and your Worcester News, will bring together 30 different exhibitors offering careers or training advice, or even the chance to volunteer.
Home Start is one of the charities which will have a stand at the fair on Wednesday, March 24, at Worcester Racecourse between 10am and 3pm.
The charity, a nationwide organisation which has operated in Worcester for 25 years, is looking for parents who want to help other parents who may be struggling to cope.
Home Start has attended the Every Child Matters fair for a number of years.
Jess Holden, of Home Start, says it is the perfect opportunity to meet potential volunteers who are already interested in working with young children.
“We are always delighted to hear from anyone who wants to volunteer with us,” she said.
“We want people who are parents to volunteer with us to help befriend other parents with under-fives. In previous years, we’ve had people volunteer with us because of the fair and it is also a good way to raise the profile of Home Start.”
Rachael Oakley, workforce support officer – recruitment for Worcestershire County Council’s early years and childcare service, said: “We are hoping this year’s event will be as successful as previous years.
“The event is a perfect opportunity for people wanting to work with children, young people and families to get information and advice at any point in their career.
The children’s services teams, training providers and voluntary organisations will be available to answer any questions.
“We look forward to seeing people on the day.
“If anyone is unable to attend but would like to find out more about working with children, young people and families, then contact the family information service on 01905 790560.” For more details about Home Start, visit home-start.org.uk.
